Tuberculosis Program

Cough

The core mission of the TB Program in Multnomah County is to prevent the spread of tuberculosis and reduce its harmful effects on the individual in our community. We do this by focusing on individuals who are at greatest risk by using local data; collaborating with the community; providing culturally appropriate, confidential and non-judgmental services; applying effective, population-based, public health practices and delivering services regardless of ability to pay.

What is Tuberculosis?

Tuberculosis (TB) is a disease that is spread from person to person through the air. TB usually affects the lungs. The germs are put into the air when a person with TB of the lungs coughs, sneezes, laughs, or sings. TB can also affect other parts of the body, such as the brain, the kidney, or the spine. More »
